travel europe spain majorca palma de mallorca palma cathedral

We visited the huge Palma de Majorca Cathedral on our last day on the island.
It is huge and beautiful and provided some shade in the over 100 degree heat.
We sat inside and listened to the choir practice.
The Cathedral was begun by King James I of Aragon in 1229 but not finished until 1601.
In 1901, 50 years after a restoration was started, architect Antoni Gaudi was commissioned to take over the project.
Only some of his designs were incorporated and he abandoned the project in 1914 after a dispute with a contractor.
No photos were allowed inside.
